My third Ashton Ridge Home

Recently we purchased our third Ashton ridge Home. Our first home was built quickly ,on time, with changes we made accepted by the builder with absolutely no extra charges. Our foundation had a minor crack develope at a basement window well and it was repaired quickly and professionaly. There service dept was back in one year to inspect our property and minor drywall cracks and repairs were fixed. Our second custom home was closed with a slight delay due to permits and city woes. Once underway, construction was smooth and again changes were made by us and accepted by the builder with no problems whats so ever. We are very satisfied with our home and have had no issues apart from minor settling creaks and cracks which is to be expected. Ashton Ridge followed through with service calls at the agreed times and we feel we could contact them well after the one year time period has elapsed. The staff at ARH, have been helpful informative, and have made all the changes that we requested during construction a very pleasant experience. We have chosen ARH to build our investment property # 3. We completely recommend this builder, the construction manager was exceptionaly helpful to us with advice and ideas, and the trades were pleasant, clean and friendly,

Sales process was good but not all options disclosed. Made a few changes during construction which caused a bit of problems with schedule but all came together in the end. A few minor cosmetic issues but trades were back quickly to fix / repair. Overall good experience.

Water penetration and mould growth - wouldn't you expect your builder to take this seriously?

It was a full time job trying to stay on top of the many problems and get results and attention from the builder. The most serious problem was a roof and siding leak into our living room that lasted for months and it took 9 attempts to locate and resolve the problem. During this time, additional problems/leaks were created by sloppy workmanship and we discovered the roof in question did not comply with building code. We asked for a roof specialist to be brought in but they refused to offer anyone other than their own handyman to try to resolve the problem. The water penetration into our living space resulted in mould growth inside the home (we have many photographs to prove this) and the mould was tested and verified by two separate mould specialists. There was a TOTAL LACK OF CONCERN regarding the impact that this mould would have on our two young children. Finally, after months of fighting with them, they repaired the leak, covered up the mould and we moved to protect the health of our children. The experience was very stressful and costly for us. I would NEVER recommend this builder to anyone. The owner actually suggested that we had been unresonable through this experience - absolutely no regard for the health risk they created...what family with young children would live with mould in their home for months and be reasonable!?
