Our R2000 house was built by this builder almost 10 years ago and it's been a pleasure to live in ever since. We have had him back to do some minor additions for us, simply because we feel so confident in him and don't want anyone else to touch the house! I don't understand the question about the realtor. I don't think it applies in this case. Our contract was directly with the builder.

This was a very unpleasant experience and we are still trying to sort it out 8 yrs later. This Builder didn't seem to know what he was doing in hindsight. We didn't have any experience in building a home, and so were completely at his mercy. He came highly recommeded to us. He told us he could build a monolithic slab but when the time came to build it, he blamed the slope of the land for the inability to use the monolithic slab and changed engineered designs with the permission of the Building Inspector. He didn't put in drain tiles and we have water under the slab, he didn't put in interior footings so we have cracking in the slab. He didn't properly build or brace the exterior walls and the house actually moves in the wind and when a door closes. The roof is not the proper roof for the house, insulation was left out as was vapour barrier. The builder took no responsibility for any of the problems and in fact denies there are any problems with the house. When we took him to court he folded his company Applewood Enterprises Ltd. Never let this man do any work for you!!!
