How do we fix the ongoing problems that Landmart is refusing to address? I think we should go door to door and speak to people to see what is being done and then have a community meeting for those that are unhappy. Heaven forbid if you put a sign up sayin
Wow, where do I begin? This experience has been a nightmare for me and what good does complaining on this site do for me? The owners of Landmart Homes, and their representative, Rick, do not care as long as they are raking in the money. If you look at the other builders in the area and compare them to Landmart Homes, there is obviously a problem here. If you talk to the majority of people in the community that have taken possession in the past year, there is a sadness that prevails. It is the same theme; nothing is fixed, it is not built according to the contract, there are leaks, problems, etc. It is an ongoing liteny. Please do your homework BEFORE purchasing or even considering a home built by Landmart. DO NOT take anything that Rick tells you at face value as he will look at you in the eye with a smile on his lips and LIE TO YOU!!!!! The cost in the end to both your sanity and your pocketbook can not even be justified. How can Rick tell you that the lights are included in the house and that you get a credit towards them to use (and when asked if you could take that credit where ever you wish...you were told of course) that it simply wasn't true and I spend over 5000 on fixtures. That did not include the pot lights! RICK makes Landmarts reputation terrible and you would think that if they cared they would revamp their whole system!

Don't expect any post-sales service
I've owned my Landmart home for approximately 4-years now. On the positive side, I am pleased with the general design. On the negative side, the post sales service has been extremely poor and general construction quality, in my opinion, sub-standard. The sales prime became an obnoxious pompous ass the minute we signed the sales agreement and effectively ended any concept of 'customer service' from that point forward. Trying to deal wih the service department of the many, many, many issues identified after closing was long and painful. Things I've learned...the power of marketing: check out the 'About' section of their website, claiming "Landmart is not like every other builder..." - let's hope not. Notice they don't claim to be better, just different. They also claim to use superior craftsmen - eletrical was good, tilesetter was brutal, skill of service department staff are brutal. While I'm reasonably happy with the general design of my home, I am of the opinion the quality of construction is sub-standard. I do not believe I received what I was promised. Lastly, the overall experience of purchasing a new home, what one would think should be a time of excitement and enjoyment, was a time of extreme anxiety and dissatisfaction due to the extremely poor sales and post-sales service.

Landmart treats customers with contempt
Landmart treats it customers with total contempt. Once you close you can forget any kind of service. ANy service that is provided is provided grudginlgy and only after going nuclear on service people. THe attitude towards homeowners begins at the top and filters it way downwards. Rick (the dick) is a lying SOB (typical used car salesman), Aaron Rocque (VP) is never contactable, the after sales "service" office is a joke, they NEVER pick up the phone. Good luck if you are waiting for a call back from them. You will wait forever. It takes forever to address problems, some of which (on our home) are positively dangerous. I have not talked to a single homeowner in Meadowlands who is happy with Landmart If you want to be treated with contempt, and like to constantly fight to get WHAT YOU PAID FOR, then go ahead and buy a Landmart home, I will certainly not be joining you though. THese idiots have failed to grasp how important a positive customer reference is. I cannot possibly recommend Landmart to anyone I know.

Beware of Landmart
Landmart has a "smooth-talkin" saleman. Beware what Rick tells you. Make sure you get everything in writing.Make sure you get a detailed breakdown of the cost of the house & any upgrades you may purchase. Wouldn't be a bad idea to use a voice recorder. This will make for an easier transition through the building process. Landmart charges "an arm & a leg" for any upgrades (5-10 times the material cost) yet when it comes to a credit that your entitled to, you get the "shaft".(many times less than you originally paid for). Most sub-contractors for Landmart are very good. A few charge exorbinant rates for upgrades. Be a wise shopper.Know the prices of materials. Communication between sales office & head office is somewhat lax, taking from a few days to literally months to reply. One thank-you goes to Colleen (sales "go between") during the final stages of the house building process. Landmart does eventually build a quality house , for a rather big price tag, But it's not without numerous Headaches & Frustrations. Been in home for 7 months now. Only house on the block that has not been Graded or Sodded. Unable to install Deck or Fence because Grading not complete. Landmart says it should be done within the next 6 months. What's with That? BEWARE of LANDMART!!!!!

Landmart Homes Truly is a Great Home Builder
I am just adding to my original post because I noticed that there seems to be someone on this site that has it out for Landmart Homes. How dare they say that my family's latest post a to Tout the reputation of Landmart Homes. If we had any issues with our home we would have been sure to post them here. We gave glowing reviews because our home truly is marvelous and we do not have a single bad thing to say about Landmart, Rick or anyone associated with the company. Over the weekend we spoke to many of our neigbors and for the most part the all gave high opinions of their homes, Landmart and of the community they now live in. It appears that this board has a single individual that is out to smear and hurt the reputation of this builder but I can honestly say that we are 100% satisified as are many of our neighbors with our new homes. Do begin slamming employees of Landmart Homes is going to far since during our dealings with this builder we only met a few employees and were treated with the upmost respect. IF you have nothing better to say then maybe you should keep your comments to yourself or at least try and control your antics (there is no need to attack employees or agents or any builder since this site is for rating the builders themselves). After reading the post that was added on Feb. 8 we thought we had an obligation to reply since we are bothered and disgusted by the comments made. We have nothing but good things to say about Landmart Homes. Our new home is beatiful and was built they way we wanted. The ability to customize our home was a great advantage over most of the other builders in the area. The staff was very friendly and courteous and was most helpful whenever there was an issue with a contractor or timelines. I would like to make a special thanks to all of the sales staff in their Ancaster Sales Office especially Rick Serra who took the time to customize my home the way we wanted. He was very knowledgable and did not come across as a cheezy salesman as most do. He explained the whole process to us from start to finish. Thanks Rick you really made this whole experience truly wonderful.

A couple of builders TOUTS at work
Just by reading all the posts on this builder on this site, it seems that either the builder, his agent, or Rick is TOUTING this builder. When you find sleazy work, and sleazy employees ...you know it smells. All it takes is a couple of bad reports about the same quality of work, and employees, then you know the truth ...touting isn't going to correct it. IMOPO ...there are just toooo many sleazy builders out there ruining dreams of good honest people

I would highly recommend Landmart Homes
I would just like to say a few addtional comments since my husband has already gave his opinion. I think Landmart Homes is one of the best, kindest and most knowledgeable custom home builders around. They were absolutley exceptional when it came to dealing with issues and always replied rapidly when they were needed. As my husband mentioned I would also like to gave the biggest thanks to all of the Staff at the sales office especially Rick (your really did go the extra mile). Overall, I would say that Landmart Homes is one of the best builders and anyone looking for a new custom built home should absolutley consider Landmart. Thanks again guys!

Landmart Really Does make Dreams Come True. I would recommend them over and over.
After reading some of the reviews on this website I am shocked to read that there is actually some unhappy customers of Landmart Homes. Right from the start of the process Landmart Homes treated me and my family like gold. We were involved in every aspect of the design and layout of our new home and were able to provide input at every stage. We felt like we were part of the Landmart Team (and even my kids thought it was the coolest thing that they had input on how their bedrooms were designed). Our house is beautiful and is more then we expected and we have nothing but great things to say about Landmart Homes and the staff there. The Sales people we exceptional and gave non of the bull that other companies give to their customers...thanks go out to Rick, Kim, Beth and Kristyn for making this experience so wonderful (we will never forget you guys). The only minor issue we found with our new house was that the painters forgot to put the final coat of paint in one of our kids bedroom closet. Once we notified Landmart of this oversight they quickly had their contractor come back out and paint the closet within in a couple of days of being notified.

Landmart Homes Does NOT build a Quality Home
I bought my house 2 years before taking possession. When I bought the house I was told certain things were standard (for example 2"x6" exterior stud walls on first floor). When my house was being built I got a copy of my approved house plan from the City of Hamilton Building Department. The approved plan indicated 2"x6" exterior wall, but 2"x4" exterior wall was being built. Rick Serra told me that Landmart puts all kinds of stuff on the plans for approval but they don't built it that way. 2"x4" walls meet OBC. This was one of the many lies. Landmart Homes claimes to build quality homes. I say my house is NOT a quality home, but you judge for yourself. I have pictures and correspondence backup. 1. Master bedroom closet rod and shelf crashed down 2 weeks after moving my cloths into the closet. (Glue was not used and builder carefully made sure that all of the finishing nails avoided the wall studs.) Three weeks later rod and shelf replaced. 4 months later Landmart has not addressed the damaged hardwood floor. 2. Wrong garage doors were installed during construction. Just before the pre-delivery inspection, the garage doors I ordered were installed. At that time I did not know that a "rocking" garage door indicated a problem. When I was backing out of the garage, the door slipped down onto my vehicle's roof. Garage door and vehicle were damaged. Made numerous calls to Landmart's after sales service. Was always told Westwood would be coming out to look at may garage doors. 3 months later I have yet to see anyone. I faxed Landmart a claim to have my garage door replaced and vehicle fixed. 3 months later Landmart has not responed. Faxed claim to Tarion, still no response. Just before the Christmas holidays, garage door slipped again. This time it was witnessed by my parents. Neighbours probably heard my mother screaming. 3. When my staircase was being installed I noticed it did not rest on a load bearing wall. For months I was told that the staircase would be properly installed. It's still not properly installed. 2 months after closing Landmart after service guys came in to adjust the landing. It had dropped 2". The gap between the bottom step and ceramic floor had been caulked. 2 months later the caulking has been pulled apart, because the stairs are aggressively moving. A 0.25" round was nailed between the landing and second set of stairs because a gap between them had formed. The second floor landing is now leaning. The ceiling under the recently adjusted landing is starting to crumble. All this "band-aid" work is not addressing the staircase stability. Landmart is only addressing the cosmetic cover up. Landmart faxed me a letter, "rest assured your house is structually sound". When closets fall, garage doors slip and staircases move, I don't think the house is structually sound. It took me a long time to save for my dream home and now I'm really concerned that my house will fall on me! I agree with the other review. STAY AWAY FROM LANDMART HOMES!

From the time we went to the sales office, to our one year service, we were taken care of by Landmart Homes. Landmart kept us happy from beginning to end. The trades were great to deal with. The service they provide is unmatched I'm sure, especially the extra things they took care of for us. The sales team were very helpful in giving us the home we dreamt of. Even to this day Landmarts employees are still helpful. I recommend this builder to anyone, especially if you have built with another builder before, go see the difference.

No communication, what was promised was not delivered, ignored, discourteous services, late on all aspects. Nothing but frustrations for us.
