Look else where, only go here if you are a sucker for punishment

Builder is very messy, I look at other builder lots and see how save and clean they keep them. My house is a huge mess! Work is slow and the subtraders are very rude and inconsiderate. You have to phone the company many times before you get any kind of results. Very poor business dealings, would never recommend them to anyone! stonegate should change their name to challenge homes, cause thats what it is.

Stonegate's quality and customer service are awful. Look for another builder.

We have been in our Stonegate home for 11 months as of today. There are still a large number of items that have not been completed that should have been done before we moved in. There are other items that need to be fixed or redone that have not been done. The builder has made no effort in at least the last 5 months to do any work in our house. We are going to be sending a letter to New Home Warranty tomorrow and hopefully that will get some activity started on getting these items complete. Our concrete driveway, walkway, and veranda are all VERY poorly done and need to be redone. The concrete for the garage floor has large cracks in it because they poured half of the concrete and then waited for approximately 5 hours before pouring the rest of it. The painting, mudding, and taping in our house was horrible when we moved in and we had to live for at least a month or two with painters in our house constantly to try and get it fixed. Our house was incredibly dusty and it was incredibly inconvenient (I have two small children) and there are still several places that look awful. We have had no acknowledgment from the builder that they did anything wrong. We have walls that are crooked that the builder refuses to fix. I could go on and on. I have created a blog to post my problems with Stonegate at www.ibuiltwithstonegate.com. Hopefully I can warn other potential customers of some of the issues I have had with this company. If I ever build another house (which I strongly doubt after this experience) Stonegate would be the LAST company I would ever consider to build with.

Buyer Beware

The builder did not complete the home and/or make repairs and completion of items is still outstanding. We have had to file for conciliation with the Home Warranty and are now into a very expensive arbitration. Building code violations and very poor concrete work. Crooked walls, poor finishes and no builder response to letters or phone calls. Trades threatened to lien home and some have not been paid. poor workmanship and absolutley no quality control. Evestroughs have leaked since before possession in April 2006 and are still leaking. Roof issues as well as paint issues. To date we have not recieved the required service calls as outlined in the builder specs and the service man is incapable of completing proper repairs. This gentleman was rude and threatening in front of witnesses and stated that he would continue to make messes when he arrived to conduct repairs. Damages and repairs still outstanding and this has caused us to miss lots of work days as the service man causes more damage when he tries to complete items. This builder is a joke and does not care one bit about customers. How they have stayed in buisness this long is a complete wonder. We thought we did everything right and checked them out as they are members in the Edmonton Home Builders Association, Home warranty Moisture Smart Builder, etc. I would suggest that anyone buying a home knock on doors in the chosen neighborhod and ask lots of questions. If we would have done this then we would not have built with this company as we would have known how poor they are. Do not count on the Alberta Home warranty to fix wrongs as their standards allow for crooked walls, poor paint and failing concrete issues. Know your rights and what is required on a COP walk through document.
