Possession was delayed once for four months, and we got reasonable notice of delay. Not too bad considering some of the horror stories you hear. There were a number of small oversights and fixes needed. Most were done quickly, while a few of the subcontractors felt they could take their time. Most notably, the backsplah we ordered for the kitchen took three months -- but when we finally called head office to complain, the subcontractor was out within 1-2 days to get the backsplash installed. Quality seems pretty good, although I guess time will be the only real judge. For the most part, it seems like some real attention was paid to the details, and thought given to the layout of the house. My one major complaint would be the whole upgrade process. They provided no advance information on upgrades or prices prior to going into the decor centre for your appointment. There was a one day open house where you could go in and look at things in advance, but that was only arranged after a large number of people complained. Plus, they didn't seem very willing to accommodate changes/upgrades, although they were quite willing to charge a mint for the ones they did allow. That said, I would consider buying another Remington Home again.

After lengthy delays, at the inspection prior to closing the house was uninhabitable. The kitchen which we had paid to upgrade to the tune of 15,000.00 did not have cupboards, sink, counter, or backspash. Our front porch was missing and our mover refused to deliver our furniture under the circumstances. After two years most of the deficits were finally corrected, but only after concilliation was initiated with Home Warranty. We never did get a front porch. Only the pictures pain the true horror of what our house looked like. I would never ever buy another home from Remington and I tell everyone I know of the truly horrible and stressful experience it was.

While overall quality of homes is quite reasonable some of the finishing tends to be sloppyand the builder's customer service staff are most unhelpful in resolving problems (but will do so when fixes are insisted on). I would buy again from Remington but would take great pains at the pre delivery inspection to make a thorough check of finishing quality.

I would have been satisfied as a rookie new home buyer with my new home purchase from Remington Homes but when I compared my unit with those of my friends' recently purchased homes, I realized the shoddy workmanship done to mine. I also dread the day that my home falls apart as a result of unacceptable trade standards that were not complied with for cost cutting purposes.

We moved into our house in June, 2001. The problems started the day we closed - 2 inches of water in the basement, no air conditioning, and lots of little things to repair, along with a support beam sticking out of the wall. The problems have continued until today, March 14, 2005. We have had a leaking roof for the last three years, basement leaks, kitchen leaks, a third floor window fell out. These are just the major things. Each time a service person was sent to do a job, other things had to be done as a result. We needed touch up painting done outside - the painter damaged our air conditioner. We needed touch ups done on our concrete, the workers tore down a lattice fence and then spilled an entire bucket of concrete slop all over our deck. The latest was on Friday when we had someone come in to fix our roof. We ended up with water leaking through our walls. I have pictures of everything, should someone wish to see them (email me at zeph790@rogers.com). This has been the longest, most dreadful three and half years of my life in dealing with this builder. The service people will book an apointment for you and tell you one time, and tell the service people another time. When my roof started leaking again last year, I was told it was my fault since I hadn't cleared the snow off - it's about 50 feet to the roof. Please do not go through what I have and continue to go through. Find a reputable builder. Go to a previous development and knock on people's doors to find out how they were treated. I would never buy another house from Remington nor would I let my worst enemy do so.

Prior to closing they were the most courteous and helpful. This was first new home and what a learning experience it has been. Site Supervision of Finishing Details was inadequate and resulted in shoddy workmanship of the trades. My home is 3 years old and I believe I should not be having the problems that I am experiencing. Leaking roof, French Doors that have allowed water to seep in lifting the hardwood floor, exterior wood trim (clapboard) needs to be replaced. Poor insulation, vapour barrier so when there is a east wind towels need to be put along baseboards to stop the draft and cold. The heating/cooling system that was installed (high-efficiency) doesn't adequately heat/cool the townhouse. When the furnace is running it causes problems with the hot water temperature for showers. Paid to upgrade carpet and it is now shredding on stairs and buckling in rooms. I strongly would not recommend them unless as a homeowner you are talented and can repair problems as they arise. It is very expensive to do these repairs when you have to hire out. In closing -- NEVER, NEVER ASSUME ANYTHING. CHECK THOROUGHLY EVERY SINGLE DETAIL IN THE HOME WHEN YOU DO YOUR INITIAL INSPECTION. DO NOT HESITATE TO HAVE THEM COME AND FIX EVERY PROBLEM YOU HAVE NO MATTER HOW SMALL DURING THE FIRST YEAR & DOCUMENT IT. AGAIN AT THE END OF THE FIRST YEAR GO OVER YOUR HOME WITH A FINE TOOTH COMB. I MIGHT EVEN HAVE CONSIDERED HIRING A HOME INSPECTOR (CONSIDERING THE ROOFING PROBLEM) TO CHECK THINGS IT NEVER WOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF.
