Do not build with Kurt Streu!!
The builder was more concerned about receiving his payments than how satisfied we were with the house. He knew that we were committing to a sale of our existing house and therefore had to move by the end of March of 2003. However, according to our neighbors, nothing much went on at the house for the last month. Then all of a sudden, the last week every trade showed up to do the work. As a result, the hosue was no where near completion. We had to argue to get our fridge installed the night we moved so we wouldn't loose our food. We had no working cook-top, we had only one toilet in the onsuite bathroom, one working sink in the kitchen and one working shower in the main bathroom. They made such a mess of our hardwood floors that the builder had to pay to had it refinished which meant living downstairs in an unfinished basement for over a month while they finished the work and then re-finished the floors. There trades made numerous mistakes and we contstantly had to look over their shoulders. Any time we made the builder correct a mistake he whined about it costing him money. The painter even told us that even though the builder new he would be going in to paint the house on a specific day, he did not have the heat turned on and the paint was freezing so he had to leave and come back another day. We have pictures of the window problem we have been having in the winter over the last 5 years and he refuses to acknowledge responsibility for the problem and the New Home Warranty program keeps dragging their heels on the issue. It has never been resolved and we fear that we will have to hire a laywer to get any action let alone a resolution!
