Townhouse bought new in 2001. The entire second floor squeaks. I told the builder even before pre-inspection day and they promissed the squeak will go away. I noted this issue at pre-inspection time before clossing, again at 3 month inspection and yearly inspection and the issue was never resolved. The last time I contacted the builder I was told they would have make a hole in the kitchen ceiling to fix the problem and that it was my responsibility to fix the holes because that is not their issue anymore. Some of the ventilation was not completed. The furnace was too close to the walls and had to call them back when I wanted to have a humidifier installed. The ceiling in the garage is to low and can't install an automatic garage door opener. The carpentry and trim detail were poor throughout the house. There are several walls that are signifigantly crooked and not flat and there are some corners that are well off of 90 degrees. I did not enjoy this buying experience.

Townhouse bought new in 2002. When I bought I had to take the model but I was able to chose my preference for floorplan and layout. Specifically, I chose the 3-piece master bodroom. However, my choice was not communicated down to the jobsite and I ended up with the original buyers layout (and that included the 4-piece master bathroom.) I agreed to keep the bathroom and paid a deep discounted price - but I lost space in the master bedroom. I still don't like the 4-piece bathroom we have. I think the corner tub is useless and it still squeaks to step into it. The carpentry and trim detail were poor throughout the house. There are several walls that are signifigantly crooked and not flat (ie. a picture or other flat object does not hang flush against it) and there are some corners that are well off of 90 degrees. On more that one lightswitch or electrical outlet, the hole in the drywall was cut too quickly, and too big because there are small holes at the edge of the plastic switch plate. Two pieces of wood trim were not installed on the wall of the staircase. (Problem later fixed.) Our carpet is lifting and bulging in several places - a long strip in the middle of the liing room and also in the master bedroom, and the walk-in-closet. We had ice build-up on the roof that caused a small amount of water to leak inside during the first winter and I've learned that the back roof is poorly designed with inadequate overhang for circulation (although it apparently passes code.) This was my first house-buying experience. Maybe people don't care about the quality of the work/craft-manship they do but only about getting paid to hit a few nails as fast as they can. Unfortunately for Valecraft, that issue reflects on them. I did not enjoy this buying experience and I will not recommend them to my family or friends.

We moved into our home in November 2003 and believe there are still two outstanding issues. The first being an accent brick that is off-centre by approximately 2 inches. Valecraft has agreed to move the window, but with all the inspections that are supposed to take place, some contractor and/or inspector must have seen this. The second issue is one that has been ongoing since the day our sod was laid. We have holes in our back yard that we believe are being caused by a swale, which is a slope that is required for drainage. We know that we need the swale, but we are losing up to 750 square feet of property and the holes are dangerous. The problem is that when we purchased the house, we were told on many occasions that the back yard would be exactly as the one we saw at the model home. This is definitely not the case. We honestly believe the salesman did not know what kind of swale we would have and we think there is a serious communication problem between Valecraft?s head office and its sales people.

Valecraft cannot even answer a simple e-mail. What is the point of offering an email address if you're not going to respond. I don't want to imagine how you are treated if you call them - maybe you'll be put on hold forever.... The internet is an excellent business tool - They should learn how to communicate using it!

All went ok, until we began dealing with (name removed) at this company. Says this and that would get fixed and it never did. I would avoid this company for now

We were very impresses with the service we got from the sales person. He was helpful in every way possible. The builder was very accomodating regarding changes we wanted made to the house. The workmanship was excellent but like another user mentionned, some windows were poor quality. The builder is actually looking into finding a way to fix them with the manufacturer. Overall, we are extremely satisfied with our house and would gladly buy another house by Valecraft. :)

We are generally happy with our purchase. Three windows have leaked however, I'd recommend checking the window seals of each window as soon as you move in. May have been a fluke however. I'd recommend Valecraft with confidence.
