This builder has changed his name. At the time my home was constructed he was known as Carl Chandler Construction. The home is five years old. Approximately six months after I took possession huge cracks appeared, drywall tape hung off every wall, nails came through the gyproc, walls separated, doors were not working. I entered the home through the garage door. To this day I am still doing this. The builder had every excuse for this including that my china cabinet was too heavy. As it turned out, the weeping tiles were not installed properly, water was under the basement slab and lifted the whole house. The builder all along assured me that the inspector from the City was in attendance and that the drain field was installed correctly. When I went to the City, I found out that they never inspected this part of the construction at all. The walls have been repaired, the entire house had to be redone. There is cracking appearing again now. I still have no doors. Now the windows are so out of angle that I can see daylight through them. The glass company said they are not repairable and have to be replaced. The slab in the garage is so heaved that it is a tripping hazzard. I hired an engineer who found that one side of the home has sunk. The drain field was replaced by the builder. It was found that the weeping tiles were installed over the footings, thus not doing their job, no gravel was on them at all. I have photographic proof as I took pictures of the entire process. I submitted a claim to Natinal Home Warranty. I was very stunned when they stated that they would do nothing about the warranty. The house sinking on one side is "normal", that only one side of the drain field was excavated. The photos look "old". In other words, fake. Everything is fine with this house. How they can state that only one side was excavated is beyond me, and I can only deduct that this information comes from the builder. The most ironic thing of all they said was that in the year 2001 we had a heavy rain and this caused all the problems??? This obviously also is an excuse by the builder. It is strange that no other house in this neighbourhood has the same problems because of rain. I paid this builder cash and now have a home where my entire life savings are invested in. It is not sellable and has been assessed at much less than half of what it should be worth. I have found this builder to be extremely untruthful and very very unreliable to fix anything at all.
