Avoid the headache, avoid A&S Homes...............

During the building process, A & S was generally Ok if you don't mind an electrician who is rude, disrespectful and tries to get you to buy "extra's" for cash. Also it was a pleasure to deal with contractors who don't show up because they are drunk. Trying to get the house finished was the big problem with A & S. They are known throughout the community for not finishing their work. How they won the "Best Builder" award is beyond comprehension unless they only polled happy customers. When contacted about finishing they either didn't call back, or sent an incompetent man who had no clue what he was doing. Only when they were threatened with legal action did they actually finish the work they were contracted to do. This took many months. If you need a dog house built, try them, otherwise avoid this buider like the plague.........

Beware of A & S Homes

A & S Homes have adopted the mantra that once they have your money, you are no longer an desired person and they are just interested in their next sale. Their lackey, the New Home Warranty Program of Manitoba have a better customer service aspect, but their coverage is just not there. When a structural engineer working for one of the most respected structural enginnering firms in Manitoba reports that you have a structural problem, the warranty program then denies coverage because it is not " a materials and workmanship " issue and that is all they cover. They called it a "design problem" and who is responsible for that? The bottom line is that no one in this industry is responsible and there has been a false sense of security set up by the builders with their warranty program. A warranty program set up and run by the builders is surely going to support its owners, the buiders. All the governments in this country have fallen asleep and allwoed this "rape" of the public to perpetuate. Shame!

I was very pleased with A&S Homes. Issues arose from time to time during construction but they were all dealt with promptly and professionally. They have some great people working at A&S Homes. My wife and I had many questions during the construction period and requested numerous changes to the home. All our questions and change requests were dealt with promptly and professionally. The changes we requested were always dealt with courteously even when we made requests that were obviously difficult to deal with. like when we wanted to change the size and location of one of the windows, this change was very important to my wife and me, the home had been framed and the windows were already at the site. A&S was very helpful in accomodating us, and made the change even though it was something that could npt be done easliy or quickly. It was it was obvious that they wnat to please us and that we their customers were important to them. I would highly recommend A&S Homes, it was a real pleasure building with them.

There will always be issues in building a new home however A & S was consistently able to listen to our concerns and problems were addressed.

It was a real pleasure to deal with A&S Homes. I found the people in their organization to be very professional. I was especially pleased with the promptness of their service department in addressing the few concerns we had. I am very proud of my home I highly recommend this company, it was a great experience.

Bad customer service, not responding to mistakes and calls. Remember not to use their recommended law firm (pamlets that A & S agent hands out). Use a lawyer that specialised in construction and if you have to pay a little more, it's worth it. I am in the process of collecting evidence to pursue a unethical transaction between their recommended lawyer, A & S and me -- the victim.
