fIRST VIEW AND ANOTHER OBC VIOLATION, NOTHING NEW June 18, 2007 12:50 AM
First View Homes shows time after time that building codes were not their priority when they built our house. They can't even ensure that door dead bolts are to code. Any deadbolt on a entry door with a throw of less than 25 mm or approximately 1 inch is a violation of the building code. This code is critical for the ability of an entrance door to resist forced entry and is certainly a safety issue. This is just another of many building code violations homeowners should be looking for. See code below:

9.6.8. Resistance to Forced Entry

9.6.8.3. Deadbolt Lock

(1) Except as permitted in Article 9.6.8.10., doors described in Sentence 9.6.8.1.(1) shall be provided with a deadbolt lock with a cylinder having no fewer than 5 pins and a bolt throw not less than 25 mm, protected with a solid or hardened free-turning ring or bevelled cylinder housing.
