Hello! This is probably not the right forum but can someone direct me in the right direction? The ontario building code mandates a response from your local building department in a certain number of business days when applying for a permit. In my case, it was for an addition on our house. There is no doubt that they did not respond within the mandated time.

When they did respond, all of the questions were for the structural engineer only (wanting more detail). They had not attempted to contact him on their own.

In case we are adversely affected in terms of obtaining permit in a timely manner, I just want to know what the penalty is if the building dept doesn't meet its mandate? (short of filing against them or something). Is that written anywhere?
