Poor Customer Satisfaction - Muirland October 24, 2007 2:32 PM
We purchased a home from Muirland Homes, what a nightmare. There sales staff all tell you different stories, they talk in front of you as if your are not there, one actually yelled at me! They have the worst customer service! I have purchased 2 new homes now and I have never dealt with a more difficult builder. Muirland is not willing to make any changes even if you are willing to pay for them. But when we bought we asked about changes and they said ‘no problem’ but once the contract was signed apparently it was a problem to make those changes. They would not let our lawyer review the contract; they said they don’t do that??? I should have known something was up then. But we figured we had already bought 2 new homes and both those contract were the same, so how different could this one be? Muirland does not pay attention to detail or the look of the interior of the house. The house we purchased does not look like the plan, they cut corners ever where. All our heating ducts are boxed out, so we have no corners on the main level. They ran the heating ducts down each corner and boxed them out. They just want your money they don’t care about making you happy. Oh and the kicker, they counted the square footage of the garage into the total square footage of the house – Can they do that? We asked to delete all the ceramic fixtures and they wouldn’t let us. We can’t replace them afterwards without damaging the cabinets. They put the towel bar in the powder room below the window – the window is 2ft from the ground, so you have to bend down to dry your hands – that’s great for my 88 year old grandmother! They did not place the heating vents in front of the windows, in one room; it’s on the opposite wall! They wanted us to pay $1500 to have our stair stained a different colour, which is fine, but they had no stain for us to choose from, they wanted us to bring our own – well then why am I paying you $1500! We paid over $7000 in upgrades to our kitchen and it totally wasn’t worth it!!! The only advice I want to give everyone, is research your builder before you buy from them. This was the only builder we didn’t research, we were in a jam and bought in a hurry and now I will regret it until I can sell this nightmare of a house.

MUIRLAND HOMES? YOUR RIGHT WHO, WE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER THEN. YOU ARE RIGHT THOUGH, THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS! I'M STILL WAITING FOR THEM TO FIX MY PDI ITEMS A YEAR LATER & EVERY TIME THEY SEND JOHN - THEIR HANDYMAN OVER HE BREAKS SOMETHING IN MY HOUSE. THE SALES OFFICE AND SITE MANAGER NEVER CALL ME BACK. FUNNY HOW JOHN ALWAYS SAYS IT WASN'T HIM, BUT SOMETHING IS ALWAYS BROKEN AFTER HE HAS BEEN THERE. DON'T WORRY I HAVE SPOKEN TO A LOT OF MY NEIGHBOURS AND APPARENTLY WE ARE ALL IN THE SAME BOAT. HOPEFULLY PEOPLE WILL LEARN FROM OUR BAD MISFORTUNE AND NOT BUY FROM THEM.
