Our experience with Tarion can only be described as a loss of innocence. We purchased a newly built home, believing municipal inspectors would ensure all building code violations would be eliminated before occupancy and any defects in workmanship would be warrantied by our new home warranty: Tarion. Instead, we discovered that the trust we had implicitly placed in the warranty program that is advertised to be a mediation-based new home warranty program, was stomped on by a cruel system of indifference and denial. The Ontario Government needs to eliminate the Tarion warranty system and introduce a real Consumer Protection Agency in which new home purchasers can place their hope and trust, if and when they find their homes have been built with serious defects.

Tarion is a complete money grab.
They do not protect the home owner in any way and if anything, they protect the builders.
My builder kept waving the Tarion book at me during my PDI, alomost in a mocking sort of way, to say that if it's not in this book, i don't have to fix it.

Complete waste of time and a rip off to all new home owners.
