I have been in the new home industry for over 25 years. First as a carpenter building then as a handyman in pre-delivery and after sales service. Now I am using my experience in the industry as a consultant to new home buyers by offering inspection and warranty advice and I am constantly amazed at the satisfaction ratings that some very large and well known builders receive. During an average inspection I will list 100 items on a 30 day list, most of which is just sloppy workmanship. For every homeowner I inspect for there are at least 10 who will feel that there home is acceptable. I can't believe that all my clients just happen to have substandard homes and that the rest are a quality product. People would never accept the defects if it were in a car or even a new piece of clothing at a fraction of the cost of the home they just bought. I have even read a comment on a large forum that " I heard if you take ****** to concilliation they will blacklist you and not sell you another home" Why would you want to buy from the same builder if you are not satisified with the product.
