Tamlyn Construction has been suspended from the AHWP for non-performance. Builder, Douglas Tamlyn, refused to repair home. Builder used blueskin as an exterior house wrap over OSB sheathing causing chronic moisture problems and wood rot. Builder tried to hide problem and was forced to do the repairs. Builder failed to complete work after 5 months of extreme disruption of home owner's life style. Builder disrepected my family. Douglas Tamlyn conducted himself in an unprofessional manner and performed substandard work. During the builders attempt to do the neccessary repairs, directed under the warranty, Douglas Tamlyn caused further damage by performing substandard work and breaking windows. Finally, Douglas Tamlyn has lost all creditability and is suspended from the Atlantic Home Warranty Program.

I have visited the home of the posting person. I’m appalled with this builder. The builder made an absolute mess of trying to repair the house. The builder refused to standup and take responsibility for his mistakes. The builder refused to properly repair the house and during his opportunity to make things right he used the time to inflict further damage and hardship. The builder left the home owner in a mess and a repair bill of $50,000. The only thing a builder like this is concerned with is take your money and run.

Tamlyn lied and gave the homeowner bogus reports of materials, equipment, and construction methods. Homeowner had to hire professioal engineers and home inspectors to provide legitimate reports on house construction and installed equipment. NEVER trust this builder he is poison. No one should have to go through what this builder inflicted on the family that purchased this home from him. Tamlyn should be embarressed and suspended from any warranty program forever. Beware of this builder he used untested construction methods on this house, and sold it, would not repair his mistakes, and even retalliated against the homeowner for making a new home warranty claim. Tamlyn sold his expermental home without disclosing the untested construction methods to the purchaser. When problems became apparrent he was evasive, denied the problems, tried to hide the problems, provided bogus reports, caused further damage, and treated the home owner as the problem.

Builditright is absolutely correct.

We were looking forward to enjoying our new home with our family, refining it, landscaping, and spending many afternoons and evenings enjoying our decks overlooking the ocean. This was to be our dream home which after only 2 months turned into our worst NIGHTMARE. We are still living the nightmare. The arrogant builder is building his own 6,000 sq. ft. home down the street and has totally ignored his responsiblities. Douglas Tamlyn has to be one of the most disrespectful self serving builders in Canada. Protect yourself from this builder--keep your hard earned money and avoid a NIGHTMARE.

Our home is soon to be repaired under the AHWP at a cost of about $50,000 and the builder is suspended from the warranty program.

The AHWP paid me $50,000 toward correcting the building defects the builder made with the house I purchased from him. I'm in the process of doing the repairs which this arrogant builder refused to correct. This builder could have corrected these defects but chose to inflict further hardship on myself and my family. The builder is now going to court because he will not repay the AHWP for the defects he refused to correct. I wish this website could upload pictures so readers could see the mess and problems this builder left me with after he was paid for the house I purchased from him.

Contractor estimates to correct the deflects and damage the builder made in his attempt to do the repairs were well over $50,000. I'm stuck with doing the repairs myself. This builder is poison, uneducated in proper building methods, arrogant, and greedy. I have lost 1 year of my life fighting to have him correct the problems through the AHWP. He would not even recognize the problems until I initiated a claim with the AHWP. When the AHWP got involved instead of correcting the problems he inflicted further damage and hardship. After 1 year of giving him every opportunity to do the repairs he failed and was suspended from the warranty program and kicked off my property forever. If you value your hard earned money, family, and time, you will stay away from this builder.
